Florida Sheep, Wool & Herding Dog Festival Sheep Show

The 2018 Festival Sheep Show will focus on the cornerstone of our breeding programs — our rams and ewes.

We have created a “Farm Exhibit” class where your farm’s best breeding stock will be presented.  Also, a “Best On Farm” class will showcase your best Ram or Ewe.

We are excited about this new approach to showing, and producers who are reluctant to show can also participate.  Sheep don’t have to be halter broken, or even clean. They are exhibited in their “working clothes” and shown in pens.  This will be a fun way to show off our breeding stock.

Here are the rules for this year’s show:

Exhibitor provides the pens. 6 ft. by 6 ft. size limit on pens. Pens must be bedded, and exhibitor is required to clean pens completely at end of show.

Sheep must be in place in pens no later than 11 am Friday unless they are junior exhibitors (which will have to be in place Saturday by 9:30 am) and stay in pens until 4 pm Saturday. Entries will be judged at 10:00 am Saturday.

Farm Exhibit Class Rules:

The Farm Exhibit class has two divisions — Purebred and Commercial breeding stock. No wethers, and no market lambs.

The Farm Exhibit class will consist of 1 ram, and up to 4 ewes in two pens. (The ram and ewes can be in separate pens.)
Pens can be any combination of the above, but no more than 5 sheep per entry, and no more than 4 sheep per pen. The purpose of the Farm Exhibit class is to showcase your breeding program, so this class must include one ram.

Sheep will be judged in their pens, but the owner may decide to bring one ram, and one ewe out to show in arena.

Entry fee is $25 per Farm Exhibit of 2 pens, and $25 entry fee on all added Farm Exhibit entries.

Class will payout 3 places per division, as follows:
1st – 15% of entries for this class
2nd – 10% of entries for this class
3rd – 5% of entries for this class
The remaining 40% will go toward Grand and Reserve, which will be chosen from the top 2 placings from each division of  Farm Exhibit and Best of Farm classes.

Best On Farm Class Rules:

The Best On Farm Class has two divisions — Purebred and Commercial breeding stock. No wethers, and no market lambs.

The Best On Farm entry will consist of one ram or one ewe.

Class will be judged either in pen or in arena.

Entry is $15 per entry
Class will pay out 3 places per division as follows:
1st – 15% of entries for this class
2nd – 10% of entries for this class
3rd – 5% of entries for this class
The remaining 40% will go toward Grand and Reserve which will be
chosen from the top 2 placings from both divisions Farm Exhibit and Best on Farm.
Grand Champion and Reserve will be chosen immediately after the judging Saturday morning, and payouts will be as follows:
Grand Champion will receive 25% of 40% remaining, and Reserve will receive 15% of the 40% remaining.
Any and all added moneys will be added to which ever class it was
designated for, and included in the same breakdowns.

$250.00 has been added to both classes. For a total of $500.00 in added money at this time.
